10 Best Elvis Costello Songs (and stalling on 7x7)

Since I'm in SF about two of every ten days lately, I haven't made much progress on the 7x7 project.  I suppose it will just have to wait until the 2011-Q1 travel saga winds down in April. . . So in the meantime, I think I'll post random stuff to stay amused while on the road.

Here's a cool piece from Paste -- a fabulous magazine based in my former hometown of Decatur, Georgia -- on the 10 best songs by Elvis Costello: http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/lists/2010/09/the-10-best-elvis-costello-songs.html  I was pleased to see that the inspiration for the title of my blog made the cut.  And I'm also enjoying Elvis' latest album, National Ransom.  After 30-plus years as a singer/songwriter, Elvis can still write some hella-clever lyrics and compose some catchy tunes.

New Year, New Project

Friends, family, and followers,

The 2011 version of Every Day I Write the Book is here!   Except this year the project looks a bit different.  I'm calling it the "San Francisco in 7x7" project.  As you might know, the city of San Francisco is basically a seven mile by seven mile square.  For this project, I am going to lay a one mile by one mile grid over a map of the city, and over the course of the year, I will go to each grid on the map and take pictures.  My goal at the end of the project is to select one photo from each grid, and compile a collection of 49 photographs that, for me, represent San Francisco.  Along the way I'll post a few pictures from each of my outings.

This is a pretty ambitious project, so I hope you'll stay with me and help keep the fun going!   Happy new year to you all,

Maureen
